PWD ID FRAUD AND ABUSE

FRAUD and abuse in the issuance of identification cards for persons with disabilities (PWDs) continue to persist.

This was admitted by Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival who ordered the tightening of City Hall's verification system to ensure that only qualified beneficiaries receive the intended support.

According to him, this is needed in order to prevent further misuse of public resources.

Earlier this year, a city councilor called for an intensified crackdown on fake PWD IDs, noting their economic impact on establishments mandated to provide discounts and exemptions.
