Subdivision in Guadalupe placed on granular lockdown

AFTER at least 20 residents were found positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Cebu City Government on Wednesday placed a subdivision on granular lockdown.

Councilor Joel Garganera, Emergency Operations Center (EOC) chief implementer, said the granular lockdown affects only the place where the infected individuals are residing in four houses.

He clarified the lockdown does not cover the entire barangay of Guadalupe.

The decision would avert residents from coming out and visitors from coming in to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus, Garganera said.

Relative to this, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) on Monday, recommended placing the village under lockdown due to the rising number of infected individuals.

The Department of Health (DOH)-Region 7 (Central Visayas) bulletin on Tuesday showed Cebu City has 181 new cases and 81 recoveries. There is a total of 1,581 active cases monitored in different hospitals and quarantine facilities.

The EOC reported at least 68 barangays out of 80 are being monitored for Covid-19 transmissions.

Barangay Guadalupe’s social media post on July 19 showed 116 active cases under close monitoring by medical and emergency frontliners.

Meanwhile, to ensure the city residents' compliance with health protocols, CCPO personnel are now conducting “Oplan Bulabog” in specific areas in the city.

CCPO deputy director for operations Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla said the nightly operations are intended to discourage people from going out and avoid further spread of Covid-19. PNA
