CEBU City Mayor Michael “Mike” Rama said the Sinulog Grand Parade to be held at South Road Properties (SRP) on January 15, 2023 will bring connectivity of Cebu to the entire country and the world.

Rama said that there is already a bigger activity area for the Sinulog because the Sinulog sa Kabataan will be at Abellana Sports Center, the Sinulog Grand Parade will be at SRP, and the awarding of winners will be back to Abellana Sports Center. But the focus is the activity at SRP.

Rama expects millions of people from the different provinces in the country and some countries will witness the Sinulog events just like in 2020 and below, before Covid lockdowns happened forcing the leaders to defer holding the event in 2021 and 2022.

He said that he was informed by business leaders that the hotels and resorts are now full of tourists, businessmen, and Sinulog expectators.

He advised condominium owners and owners of big residential houses to open their properties for rent so all people coming to Cebu City can be accommodated.

He recognized former Bureau of Customs (BOC) District Collector David Odilao as the founder of Sinulog and was given the Honoris Causa.

“This is not a Sinulog of Cebu City Hall, not only a Sinulog of Basilica but honoring the miraculous Senior Santo Niño so we shall attend church masses and thank God for all the blessings that He provided to us. Kon ang tawo masudlan sa panulay, pulos nalang panaway,” Rama said.

Of course, Rama said, there is no Sinulog without Senior Santo Niño, hence, let us promote spirituality and religiosity by praying to the miraculous child.

He said the highlight at present is the preparations of the Sinulog and the other issues like that P50-billion 2023 annual budget and the continued clean up in river banks, roads and bridges will follow after this grand show.
