TOUGHER ACTION VS. CHILD SEX EXPLOITATION

DURING her Cebu visit recently, Sen. Risa Hontiveros once again pressed for tougher action against child sexual exploitation and the emerging dangers of deepfake photography.

The senator made this point after the arrest of US fugitive Thomas Scheuer in Cebu.

Hontiveros lauded the Bureau of Immigration for his arrest, stressing that the arrest spared potential victims from further harm.

Hontiveros's committee is conducting an inquiry on deepfake pornography, warning that artificial intelligence is making it easier to produce abusive content.
