UNCONTROLLABLE FLOOD CONTROL

THE country continues to witness the drama in the Senate over the flood control projects controversy. The people continue to feel the thrill that the ongoing probe offers them.

With this development, Sen. Chiz Escudero got ousted from the Senate top seat, paving the way for the return of Sen. Tito Sotto as Senate president.

The legislators are questioning some individuals reportedly involved in the controversy, with some of them accusing at least two senators as having pocketed large sums of kickbacks. Were they really on the take?

What is ironic is that the two senators are part of the body that is looking into the anomaly that has rocked the nation. If the senators concerned refuse to take a leave during the probe, can the Senate as a whole give up the task?

Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has created an independent three-member superbody assigned to conduct a no-nonsense investigation into the controversy. If that is so, why would the Senate continue its own probe into the very same matter?

With the Marcos-created superbody, the Senate should end its task now and focus on their main job which is legislation.

Let the superbody accomplish its mission and the senators return to theirs which is making laws.
