SUGAR MILLING SEASON OPENS

SUGAR mills in Negros Occidental are now accepting canes as the crop year 2025-2026 officially opened last week.

This, amid the continuing challenge posed by the infestation of the red-striped soft-scale insect in sugarcane plantations across the province.

Sugar Regulatory Administrator Pablo Luis Ascona said the schedule completes the 3-year transition period to return the start of the milking season to the last quarter of the year.
