BECAUSE of the terrifying devastation that the September 30 earthquake brought to northern Cebu, the only road leading to the location continues to host several vehicles carrying relief items intended for the survivors. The situation is causing a big headache as far as delivering the much-needed goods is concerned.
It's already a week since that disaster took place but until now the traffic mess remains a very big problem. It seems the proverbial "end of the tunnel" is still so far from sight.
Sadly, while the situation is getting worse, traffic personnel and other authorities are silent on what they are doing to solve the mess. Somebody should be on top of the situation and supervise those responsible for the actual management of the traffic in the district.
What will happen if an ambulance transporting a patient that needs some urgent attention in a hospital outside of northern Cebu, for example the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City, wants to make its way from the district?
Or what if there's a fire in the area? How could firetrucks and firemen do their thing in such an instance?
The northern Cebu traffic mess is no joking matter -- it needs some serious and immediate attention.
