THE Philippine National Police is supporting the proposal to lower the age of criminal responsibility following a series of crimes involving minors.
PNP Chief Gen. Nicolas Tore III stressed they are supporting the proposal, provided it is backed by evidence.
He said studies must be considered to determine whether the current age limits are still applicable or if children's awareness has already advanced due to their access to information.
Republic Act 9344 known as the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act which was enacted in 2006 sets the minimum age of criminal responsibility at 15.
