Amending Partylist System

Congress is gearing up to amend the Partylist system, and honestly, it’s about time! Right now, this system, which is supposed to give a voice to the marginalized, feels more like a VIP lounge for the elite. You see, many of the so-called representatives don’t exactly embody the spirit of what the Partylist was intended for. Instead of amplifying the voices of the underprivileged, we’ve got rich contractors like Zaldy Co popping up, flaunting their influence and, let’s face it, stoking corruption.


the farmers, the urban poor, the indigenous peoples. Yet, the recent trends show a shift where affluent


individuals, often more concerned about personal gain, sashaying in and claiming seats meant for those genuinely in need. This misrepresentation taints the whole concept of democracy!


By amending the law, Congress has the chance to recalibrate the system and ensure that true representatives of marginalized sectors are the ones in power. We need leaders who can resonate with the struggles of
