THE operations in the Toledo City treasurer's office are held in limbo after Mayor Marjorie Perales' appointment of a caretaker treasurer despite a national directive allowing the return of city treasurer Leonardo Rivera Jr.
Rivera said the mayor's decision defied orders from the Bureau of Local Government Finance and the Department of Finance.
He emphasized that the matter could delay the release of salaries and payments due to uncertainty over who has legal signatory authority.
Rivera was set to assume office this week following the expiration of his detail pursuant to a directive issued under the authority of BLGF executive director Consolacion Agcaoili.
Perales issued no comment.
